Grimes - You'll Miss Me When I'm Not Around
(Green Screen Challenge, 2020)
In the spring of 2020, just weeks into the COVID pandemic, an obviously pregnant Grimes posted the camera footage of a green screen shoot (left) she had done earlier in the year. Unable to complete post-production, she encouraged YouTubers to download the video and audio and provide their own interpretation of the song. For my version (above), I mixed in animation from NASA, and imagined Grimes in a bubble travelling through the universe, much like the Star Child seen at the end of 2001: A Space Odyssey.
